After winning a prized Winchester rifle in a shooting contest, sharpshooter Lin McAdam has the weapon stolen by the man he has been relentlessly pursuing. As Lin continues his hunt across the West, the rifle passes from one owner to another, connecting a series of lives and conflicts along the frontier while leading him closer to a deeply personal showdown.
