FRIDAY NIGHT USED TO MEAN SOMETHING.
Before endless scrolling, there was the video store.
You walked the aisles. You judged movies by their covers. You argued over what to rent. You brought something home, ordered food, dimmed the lights, and committed to the movie you picked.
Friday Night VHS was built around that feeling.
We believe movie night should still feel like an event.
HI, I'M FRANCHESCA.
I'm a VHS collector, movie lover, and the person behind Friday Night VHS.
This started with a pretty simple realization: I was constantly hunting for VHS releases myself.
A new tape would appear from a small label. Another would quietly go up for preorder. Someone online would mention a release I had completely missed. I was bouncing between labels, marketplaces, communities, and countries just trying to answer one question: what is coming out on VHS?
And I kept thinking — why is this so hard?
WHY IS IT SO HARD TO FIND OUT WHAT'S COMING OUT ON VHS?
Vinyl has release calendars. Sneakers have drop trackers. Video games have entire websites devoted to what is coming next. VHS never really had one central place.
The information was scattered across small labels, storefronts, forums, social posts, marketplaces, and collectors passing discoveries to one another.
At first, Friday Night VHS was my answer to that problem. But the more I built it, the more I realized I wanted something bigger — a place for the entire ritual of physical media, discovery, horror, movie nights, and the strange joy of finding a tape you did not know existed.
MORE THAN A TAPE.
