The Curse of the Jade Scorpion

New York, 1940. Insurance investigator C.W. Briggs thinks he can get inside the mind of any criminal—until a hypnotist gets inside his. After a night of hypnosis leaves Briggs unknowingly stealing jewels and then investigating his own crimes, the case turns into a wonderfully tangled mix of suspects, romance, office warfare, and one very suspicious jade scorpion. A throwback mystery with the rhythm of an old Hollywood crime caper.
