The Blair Witch Project VHS — Be Kind, Rewind Edition

Some footage was always meant to end up on tape.

More than 25 years after THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT helped redefine horror, Lionsgate is sending the film back into the woods — and back onto VHS.

The Be Kind, Rewind Edition isn't simply a reproduction of the movie's original home-video release. This playable VHS features the filmmaker-approved restored theatrical cut created from the original Hi8 videotapes and 16mm film elements, bringing that restoration to U.S. audiences for the first time.

It's an unusually fitting marriage of movie and format. BLAIR WITCH built its mythology around supposedly recovered analog footage, camcorder imperfections and the uncomfortable feeling that you were watching something you weren't supposed to see.

Now that footage is going back where it belongs: inside a VCR.
